KEY WORKER

Every child who attends Cwtsh Cynnes will be allocated a key worker. The key worker is responsible for giving you feedback orally and written on what your child has done through the day. They will also be responsible for planning and carrying out activities with your child in line with their individual development needs.  We also have assessment booklets which staff keeps up to date with regular assessments on the children. These assessments are available to parents and guardians to view at any time. If we were to have any concerns over a child’s development we would first discuss this with the parent or guardian, and if needed get specialist advice. All members of staff are very approachable and will be happy to discuss anything with you.

ACTIVITIES

We provide a wide range of activities in a home from home setting, with a warm caring atmosphere. A wide variety of activities are offered, messy play, outdoor play, physical play, creative and imaginative play and also opportunities for free play which will all enhance a child’s development.  We also welcome visits from many external organisations and plan outings to the local park throughout the year. Activities and crafts are planned by key-workers with themes and ideas used from the children. All our rooms are equipped with age appropriate play activities. Children are encouraged to participate in the planning and evaluation of activities and also offer ideas for equipment when it is being purchased.  In the nursery we do follow birth to three matters framework and the 6 areas of learning to plan activities, monitor progress and assess the children’s development and needs. All the planned activities take into account the capabilities of each individual child.  The setting will supply continuous, enhanced and focused provision that will encourage the children to become independent learners.

Our Service is situated in a house in Penygroes. Safety is promoted within the setting and our children are supervised at all times. We have a baby room upstairs and a cot room and also a toddler room. We have a main room downstairs and a conservatory where the children have fun, have free and scheduled play, craft activities. We also have what we call the quiet room that is used for quiet jigsaw time, playing snap also where the preschool children practice writing skills, numeracy etc and where the children go to sleep after lunch and use of the dining room for our cooking activities. We use all rooms downstairs, splitting into key worker groups. We also have a brightly coloured outdoor area that the children can enjoy some sports activities and balance bikes and scooters; this is securely fenced and gated. There are two toilets downstairs available for use by the children and a separate toilet for use by the staff.
